Hi, my name is reF [Fernando Baroli], and I’m a pixel art artist and illustrator from Argentina, with a strong focus and interest on character design and animation. Over the past few years, I’ve been involved in both designing and creating general assets for smaller and mid-sized projects, as well as working on more complex and long-term projects like Karate Kid: Street Rumble, where I served as a character designer.
While my main strength lies in character design, I also have experience working on environments, visual effects, and other aspects of game art. I’m passionate about the empathetic communication that the artistic approach in video games enables.
This portfolio showcases my artistic journey, highlighting my favorite projects and my growth as a pixel artist. I hope you enjoy exploring it as much as I enjoyed creating it.
These little guys above are the first enemies in a game currently in development called Bloodmoon Survivors, creatively crafted by TheNevel. It's a 2D pixel art survivor that takes the best elements of its genre and delivers a truly interesting aesthetic.
Here are a few more of them, designed for different environments and with different roles inside the game (elite enemies, range, bosses).
My most important work recently has been as a character designer and animator for the recently released Karate Kid: Street Rumble. Below is the game’s trailer. Additionally, I worked on the project creating backgrounds and collectables.
Finally, I’m sharing some illustrations and proposals for different projects that I believe showcase my stylistic versatility within the genre.
I would like to highlight my teamwork skills and soft skills, as well as my technical knowledge. In the recent projects I’ve been involved in, I worked as a technical artist, integrating the art produced by myself and the team directly into the engine (Unity).
